I hope that you had a great Memorial Day weekend and took a moment out to remember our troops and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.
Many of you have been following our blog for the past 3 years and over that time I have received hundreds of notes and emails letting me know how our tips have helped you land a new job, get the promotion, or just given you courage to make the first step in investing in your career. We appreciate those notes and are so glad that we have been able to help. In truth that is why I write this blog every week, to Help.
In this month’s call to action I need your Help…
Call to Action #3: Become a Mentor
I don’t mean Big Brothers Big Sisters, Omega Gents or other mentorship programs designed for adults to youth mentoring. I mean be a peer mentor. Many of us have professional skills and knowhow that could benefit someone in our network but choose to keep them to ourselves. If I kept these tips of the week to myself think of all the people (you may be one of them) that have benefited that wouldn’t have. Would they still have gotten new jobs, promotions, or invested in their careers…maybe; in-fact they probably would have but how much longer would it have taken?
I am sure you have heard that saying “pay it forward”, well this month I am asking you to do just that and become a mentor to someone you know and let your professional skills and knowhow accelerate their progress.
