Job Search Tip of the Week #110: Measure Twice Cut Once

Good Morning!

Over the past three weeks I have been helping a friend build a deck in his back yard.  For the record this is not just a deck it’s a big…deck!  During this project we have had to work as a team making adjustments, customizing our approach, then measuring twice and cutting once.  What does this have to do with this week’s tip of the week?

Tip of the Week: Measure Twice Cut Once

During the job search process you need to depend on your team; network (online, previous employers) mentors, career coach etc.  Customize your approach (resume) when applying to positions because each one you apply to is unique.  Measure twice and cut once…meaning prepare, prepare and then shine.

Every new client that engages our services I tell them the same thing, “You must put what you learn into practice.”  Meaning just because you sat through a workshop on resumes or interviewing doesn’t mean you are now going to magically find the job of your dreams.  The reality is that looking for a job is harder than having one so you have to put the work in to make it happen.  You have to invest in you, find a mentor, expand your network put together a strong team.

Let us help you!

Have a great day and an even better week!
