Monday!
Hope you all had a great weekend. I spent mine catching up on the last of the Olympics Trials that I had saved on my DVR. As I watched the Gymnastics portion of the trials I was amazed at the required skills vs those that the judges would prefer to see.
Tip of the Week: Preferred = Apply
Last week I received an email from a job seeker asking if it’s okay to apply to a position if the job description says that a particular skill or language is preferred. Absolutely! Preferred means that it would be nice if you had that skill or language but it is not a requirement. Keep in mind though that if you don’t have that preferred skill that you must meet all of the other requirements.
Remember, you always have to have recent and relevant experience for the positions you apply. So if you don’t have the preferred skill that is OK. But you must have the required skills if you want to be considered.
Have a great day and an even better week!
