Job Search Tip of the Week #139: Your Online Presence

Happy Monday!

I hope that you had a nice weekend!  Last Friday night I was presenting to a group and the topic of social media and your online presence came up.  I made the point that regardless of your social media engagement or lack thereof you still have an online presence.  Try this…

Tip of the Week: Managing Your Online Presence

If you have never Googled yourself…you should.  It is important that you know what employers will see when (not if) they Google you.  Beyond knowing what employers will see you should know what is out there about you.

When you Google yourself make sure you do it from your home computer because your work computer likely has security features that will block some results.  After your search is complete and if you find something that is not accurate or isn’t a good representation of you, contact the site and ask them to remove it.  Most sites have a contact us feature on their home page.

When you get home tonight, take a few moments and Google yourself you might be amazed as to what you will find.

Have a great day and an even better week!
