Friday!
Need I say more…? Actually I guess I should since since you don’t read this blog because I write about things that are obvious. Anyway, moving on to Tip of This Week (Day #5).
Tip of the Week (Day 5): Is a Page and a Half Resume OK?
Carl wanted to know if it’s OK to have a resume that is a page and a half. Absolutely, as long as it’s saying something (see Tip of the Week #57).
When writing a resume many job seekers fall into 1 of 2 traps:
1. Listing all work experience regardless of how old (see Tip of the Week #43)
2. Trying to fit all work history on one page (see Tip of the Week #61)
Those that fall into trap #1 appear Olderqualified and because of this are often passed over. Trap #2 may cause the writer to omit information that may otherwise help in communicating their value because they are trying to squeeze everything on one page. It further may force the reader to use a magnifying glass (instead they will likely File 13 it) to read the resume because the font used is so tiny.
